James Hardie™ ceramic tile underlay

What is it?

An internal underlay which helps to protect a finished tile floor from
movements that occur naturally in timber, particle board and plywood floors.

Where do you use it?

Over timber, particle board or plywood floors

What are the key benefits?

     

    • Larger sheet size is ideal for bigger bathrooms and large floor areas
      being tiled
    • Pre-sealed sheets increases cement based tile adhesive working time
      by 50%
    • Can be used in internal wet and dry areas when installed and
      maintained correctly
    • Durable and reliable
    • Minimises tile movement to help reduce the potential for tile cracking.

Can I use Ceramic Tile Underlay as Vinyl and Cork underlay?

Yes, however Vinyl and cork underlay must not be used as Ceramic Tile Underlay.

Can Ceramic Tile Underlay be used in a bathroom, kitchen or laundry?

Yes, check the Building Code of Australia in relation to waterproofing requirements before proceeding.

Is Ceramic Tile Underlay suitable for use on a wall?

No, Villaboard® Lining must be used in tiled wall applications.

Can I use Ceramic Tile Underlay in a deck or outdoor application?

Ceramic Tile Underlay has only been tested and recommended for use internally. Please consult our Decking Construction Manual for further information about decking options.
