Today we are proud to have officially opened our new People Centre at James Hardie Australia’s Carole Park site. The unveiling marks a significant milestone for our operations here in Australia, showcasing our ongoing commitment to investing in our workforce and operations in Australia. The new, custom-built facility was opened by our APAC President John Arneil, alongside Hon. Dale Last MP, Queensland Minister for Manufacturing and Teresa Harding, Mayor of Ipswich City Council.

Designed to support a modern, connected and high-performing workforce, the People Centre will bring 300 employees to one central space for collaboration, wellbeing and day-to-day operations.

The newly opened People Centre features upgraded workspaces, meeting rooms, employee amenities and a large indoor dining area. It’s a best-in-class facility that ensures our teams are equipped with the environment, resources and facilities they need to do their best work, while continuing to foster a culture of safety and excellence.

Celebrating 50 years in Carole Park

0M1A9050 The opening of the new People Centre also coincides with James Hardie’s 50th anniversary of operation in Carole Park, marking a long-standing connection with the Ipswich community.

Over the past five decades, the Ipswich community and our overwhelmingly local workforce have supported and shaped our business. Importantly, the work our people do here goes on to be featured in residential applications all across Australia.

As we mark this special occasion, the opening of this People Centre highlights James Hardie’s ongoing investment in our people, current and future employees, the community and the region’s manufacturing capabilities.

Showcasing innovation and design

Aside from providing a new central hub that our Carole Park team can rally around, the new People Centre also serves as a showcase of James Hardie’s design-led innovation. The building features products from the Hardie™ Architectural Collection across both the exterior and interior, demonstrating the versatility of Hardie™ fibre cement in a commercial setting.

The continued evolution and enhancement of James Hardie’s manufacturing facilities ensures that we are able to continue delivering high-performance building materials under one trusted brand, that builders, architects, designers and homeowners can choose for their own home design projects.

Supporting Australian Manufacturing

Our Carole Park site is James Hardie’s largest manufacturing facility in Australia, producing fibre cement products that go on to be used in homes across Australia and New Zealand. The work carried out here continues to play an important role in shaping the built environment, contributing to homes and communities across the region.

Recognising the significance of the People Centre opening for the broader community, Minister Last said, “It’s a pleasure to see the new James Hardie People Centre officially opened here at Carole Park. For 50 years, James Hardie has been an important part of the Ipswich community, supporting local jobs and contributing to Australia’s manufacturing capabilities. Investments like this demonstrate a strong commitment not only to local industry, but to the people who make it possible.”

As a global business with strong Australian roots, we’re proud to be continuing to support local industries with the inauguration of this new facility. With half a century of history at Carole Park already, this new People Centre will be the perfect place to watch the next fifty years unfold as we strive towards Building a Better Future for All™.
